Can I keep chickens in Rochester?

Yes! Rochester has a city ordinance (113A. Chickens) that allows keeping of up to three hens. The home owner must file a permit with the City Clerk's Office. The cost of the permit is $20 and will expire on December 31st of the second year of the permit. We will supply you with the coop dimensions and details for the permit.

 

Do you deliver outside of Rochester?

Yes!  We deliver to the communities surrounding Rochester within 30 miles. 

 

Do I need a rooster?

No, roosters are not needed for hens to lay eggs.

 

How many eggs will my hens lay?

 

Each hen can lay one egg per day. On average you can expect to collect 8-14 eggs per week.

 

Are chickens noisy?

 

No. Hens are very quiet and only make noise when they are in distress or laying an egg. 

 

 

I've gotten attached to my chickens, can I keep them?

 

Yes, of course!  At the end of your rental period your hens can be purchased for $20 each.
